Starting a few years ago, Philadelphia 76ers Head Coach Brett Brown had the opportunity to begin mentoring 11-year-old Daniel Post who was diagnosed with autism at age 4. Through Daniel’s love for the game of basketball and the Sixers Youth Foundation, he is able to go behind the scenes and learn from Coach Brown. The two have developed a bond that goes well beyond the game of basketball.
In April 2019, Coach Brown hosted his 3rd annual “Bounce Out the Stigma” Autism Awareness Clinic. During the clinic, autistic kids can participate in a 3-hour workshop at the 76ers practice facility focused on passing, shooting and dribbling drills. Head Coach Brett Brown and his fellow Assistant Coaches seek to engage the young participants in the sport of basketball while also empowering them and boosting their self-confidence.
